Museum's Black History Month Lecture on Norfolk Botanical Garden Now available on YouTube

Megan Searing Young

In celebration of Black History Month, the Greenbelt Museum was pleased to present Martha M. Williams  and Nate Cody who discussed the  history of Norfolk Botanical Garden, Virginia’s largest garden. We learned how through Franklin D. Roosevelt’s WPA program, 200 African American women and 20 African American men worked hard to clear swampland and transform the land into the garden it is today. To view the lecture visit our You Tube channel. To learn more about the Norfolk Botanical Garden click here.  Many thanks to staff at the Botanical Garden who helped make this talk possible.

This lecture was made possible by the Friends of the Greenbelt Museum, a 501(c)3 nonprofit.  To keep this and other educational Museum programs going, please make a contribution to FOGM if your budget allows.  Thank you!
