Congratulations to Greenbelt on its 75th year. I l

I lived in Greenbelt (at 4A Crescent Road) - from l94l with my family -Edward and Lillian Schurr and David Schurr. Dad worked in the government till retirement from the OPA - and then joined my mother in a childrens clothing business which they operated from their home - , I worked for the Greenbelt Coop while going to high school, my brother, David worked at the movies and at the swimming pool before going off to college. I was married in the Elementary school as there was no synagogue there at the time. So I have wonderful and fond memories of Greenbelt - Sending good wishes to all, and hope to get back one of these days..........

My grandfather, "Henry Fisher" was one of the outstanding citizens in 1975. He was an active member of the community and a member and president of the Lion's Club. It was really very special to see his name on the list of Outstanding Citizens. Thank you!

Thanks for the tour and lecture you gave our CSLC 834 class from Catholic University. It was really interesting and helpful to us. I subsequently wrote a short paper about your museum and received a very satisfactory grade for it. We all appreciated your insight and the information you shared.

Sincerely,

Hello! Yes, there have been gatherings of "old timers" mostly around anniversary years. For instance there was a large gathering of "pioneer" residents and families on the occasion of the Greenbelt's 50th anniversary. We are in the midst of planning the citys' 75th anniversary in 2012. The main festivities will probably take place in October of that year. I encourage you to become a member of the Museum so that we can keep you informed! Also check greenbeltmd.gov for more information. The museum is actively collecting photographs from Greenbelt's early years - if you have any you'd be willing to share, please let me know. Thanks,
Megan Searing Young
